Detroit Style Ballroom Champion, Award winning dancer, Wedding dance choreographer, Professional dancer and teacher Sherrad, started dancing in his hometown of Detroit in February 2013. One year later, he competed in his first Detroit Style Ballroom competition. By the summer of 2014, he started training professionally and became a full time dance instructor at Arthur Murray dance studio.
In his first year as a professional, he received awards in various showcases with his students for having the “Most Entertaining” routines and the “Most Unique” performances. Three years after starting his dance career, he became the 2016 Detroit Style Ballroom Dance Champion in Detroit’s biggest dance competition at that time. He was noted to be the first person ever from Detroit to compete professionally in both the style of Urban Ballroom and the style of American Ballroom.
He’s worked with notable entertainers such as, Ray-J (teaching him salsa) and L.J. Reynolds, who saw Sherrad dance and wanted him to be a part one of his legendary hit records (Keys to the world) and new single (What’s going on). Along side of that, he’s danced in a music video for fellow Detroit native rapper, Ron. D (Phone call away). He debuted not only his acting career, but also danced in his first stage play (Black Bottom Paradise) at the Detroit Music Hall in 2016.
He’s been featured in the Detroit newspaper, Ferndale Friends newspaper, interviewed on the Pulsebeat Media podcast, 910am superstation, 1440am WDJR radio, and has appeared on Fox 2 Detroit News twice. He’s a 2x participant in one of Michigan’s top charity events, “Dancing with the Michigan stars” and has trained with nationally recognized dancers, World Champions and coaches from across the world.
In the past 6 years of his dance career he’s danced his way across some of Metro Detroit’s iconic stages, such as the Charles H. Wright Museum, The Fillmore, The Gem Theater, The Masonic Temple and the Music Hall and has been invited to teach at various public and charter schools throughout the metro Detroit area.
In 2017, Sherrad created a dance magazine, (Go Dance Detroit) to showcase and highlight the plethora dance styles and dancers throughout the Metro Detroit area. Ranging from Detroit Jit, Kizomba, Detroit Style Ballroom, Fox Trot, Cha Cha, Salsa, Waltz and more. The quarterly magazine celebrated their well attended 1 year anniversary at the Detroit Masonic Temple in November 2018.
“He’s done something that has never been done before
in the history of dance in Detroit.
He’s brought together many dance styles under one roof.”

Whether he’s editing magazine content, teaching in the studio, competing with his professional partner or with students throughout the year. Sherrad, now an independent instructor, still makes time to go out social dancing on his free time as much as he can throughout the week.
